Hi everyone, happy new year. I am looking for some photos and info on the 1978 280L Hawk, and if there are any around in museums or flying?
Best regards. |

Yes it is the 4 place, I have tried the google search already, but couldn't find a photo or diagram or any airframes that are lying around the place. So if any body has pics or info or has seen one in person please post it.
Regards. |

Brett,
Although the FAA registry lists two 280L's, I believe we only ever built one (I'll have to ask one of the old timers on that.) We still have the Hawk here at the factory, tucked away in storage. It flew, but I was told that there were issues at the time getting a suitable engine from Lycoming, and that the aircraft was a long way from certification when the project was scrapped. Too bad, since it was a pretty neat helicopter.
We do have a few pictures here somewhere that I could send to you if you are interested. One shows a really swanky velour-orangish interior with a giant old fashioned telephone for VIP's. Very 70's....
Sincerely,
DEM |

Dennis,
It is a pity it was scrapped, no chance of a revival I guess??.......If you could send any photos you have that would be fantastic. Thanks.

Garry,
The only 280L we know of in the field is a mock up that came out of NE Wisconsin last year. We saw that mock up, and be advised that NONE of the parts are airworthy. Please contact myself or Bayard DuPont at the factory for more info. Thanks! |
